Welcome to Collegiate Peaks Anglers
Chapter of Trout Unlimited
Trout Unlimited Mission Statement:
To conserve, protect, and restore the coldwater fisheries where trout and salmon live.
Collegiate Peaks Anglers is a local chapter of the nation's leading coldwater conservation organization, Trout Unlimited. We are an active group of men and women dedicated to conservation, fishing, friendship and fun, with informative monthly meetings, numerous environmental projects, fishing trips and social events. Our membership is approximately 280 persons, most of whom live in the Upper Arkansas River Valley between Cotopaxi and Leadville.
Our chapter was formed in 1985 with 35 charter members. We accomplished our first stream improvement project within the first month of existence and have been hard at work since. We are one of 26 chapters, totaling some 8000 members, within Colorado.
The state council, Colorado Trout Unlimited (CTU) is one of the few councils which maintains a full-time staff dealing with state resource issues. Nationally, Trout Unlimited is about 140,000 members strong. The national office focuses on advocacy of coldwater issues and coordinates national attention and federal legislation.

Longtime member Larry Bussey was given Colorado Trout Unlimited's Outstanding Volunteer award by CTU President Ken Neubecker. Larry has served this chapter in many capacities, including 2 stints as banquet chair. He has also been a regional representative for the state and helped start the Southern Greenback Chapter.
Larry can always be counted on to chip in when needed, whether it's educating kids, planting willows, attending other agency meetings, researching, and helping. He is VERY deserving of this award and we are EXTREMELY proud of him!!
